When you visit the Gladbrook homestead, you will enter a warm home with special character. Each bedroom of the double story homestead is classically decorated and all beds are made with feather/down duvets and pure cotton sheets. Experience true luxury. Three queen bedrooms are located upstairs along with a large shared bathroom with an early 1900’s cast iron claw foot bath, toilet and shower. Two twin rooms are located downstairs and share a new bathroom with disability access. Each guest room is superbly appointed with antique furnishings and beautifully decorated for your comfort. All our guest rooms have fresh cut flowers, and bathrobes, electric blankets, quality linen, hairdryers, leisure reading material, chilled fresh water and after dinner mints are provided. At Gladbrook we endeavor to provide an experience of the highest quality. We pride ourselves in ensuring that all our guests have an enjoyable, pleasurable and memorable time with us. On arrival to the homestead guests are warmly welcomed and shown to their rooms. Guests are then offered afternoon tea served either on the veranda in the sun or in the sitting room by the large open fire. Alternatively guests can stroll around the expansive gardens, take in the Historic Walking Tour, play tennis or croquet or just simply relax and take in the grandeur of Gladbrook. KAKANUI ROOM
This room is aptly named for the stunning views of the Kakanui mountains and the Strath Taieri valley. Located on the upstairs floor of the homestead, this room includes the luxurious queen bed, dressing table and sitting area. GARDEN ROOM
Located on the upstairs floor of the homestead this room has views of the Strath Taieri valley and also the colourful rose garden. This room was once a nursery but is now a delightful bedroom with queen bed, dressing table and sitting area. ROCK & PILLAR ROOM
Located on the upstairs floor of the homestead this room has views of the Rock and Pillar Range and garden trees. This room has a queen bed and cedar chest of drawers. ROBERTS ROOM
Located on the ground floor of the homestead this room used to host the guests that visited the station to meet with James Roberts and later Downes Roberts. Twin room with dressing table. SUN ROOM
Located on the ground floor the homestead this sunny room opens up directly on to the veranda. Twin room with dressing table. All tariffs include a delightful breakfast served at a time that suits you.
This grand room with large centre dining table takes one back to yesteryear. One of the highlights of the homestead. The large dining room table was bought by Elizabeth’s mother for 5 pounds. Portraits of Sir John Roberts and his wife Louisa Jane take pride of place on the walls. Evening meals are served to guests in the dining room. Experience true silver service, delicious cuisine and Central Otago Wines.
The sitting room with warm open fire and comfortable chairs is available, as a reading room or just to relax by the fire. Wireless internet also available.
The dining room and sitting room open up onto an expansive veranda with breathtaking views of the valley below.
