This quaint colonel cottage is located two minutes walk from the homestead in its own private location. The cottage has some of the best views in the district, and a rare view of New Zealand’s only inland salt lake – The Sutton Salt Lake. Unwind in the peace and privacy of this picturesque setting.
The Cottage was originally the cook shop where the cooks used to live and cook for the single men who worked on the station. Adjacent to the cook shop is the single men’s hut once used to accommodate the shepherds that worked on the station. Both the cook shop and hut have been renovated and delightfully decorated to accommodate guests. The cottage and hut is ideal for larger groups all wanting to stay together.
The cottage and hut is fully furnished and self-contained. The cottage has a new bathroom, warm fireplace with wood provided, new dining suite, beds and bed linen. The beds are made with quality linen, warm duvets, electric blankets in the cottage and hot water bottles in the hut. There are two bathrooms comprising of two toilets and three showers, an endless supply of hot water and plenty of pressure. As the cottage and the adjacent hut can accommodate up to 10 people, it is ideal for large groups, families or a group of work colleagues.
